A.C. Frieden’s globetrotting literary research stems from his quest to better understand the complex political, social, cultural, economic, and security characteristics of the diverse settings featured in his novels. With a particular focus on espionage, terrorism, international crime, and political gamesmanship, Frieden's on-location investigative approach includes interviewing government officials, journalists, technical experts, activists and military/security experts, among others. This gives his stories authenticity, rich characters and realistic plots, while preserving his trademark imaginative flare. His latest novel, Tranquility Denied, takes place in Russia, Sweden, and the U.S. (Louisiana and Washington D.C.), and his prior novel, Canvas Sunsets Never Fade, is set in Mexico, Switzerland, France, Senegal and the U.S. (New York, California, and Washington D.C.). Since 2007, Frieden has spent a lot of time in Latin America, Eastern Europe and East Asia for his upcoming novels, including two sequels to Tranquility Denied, as well as for his anthologies.
